I need to detail a design in veneer and want it to be solid black. For a test I soaked a veneer in black rit dye for a week. I then dried it and did a test sand. The dye penatrated 25-30% of the depth. Would boiling the veneer in rit dye help? I would appreciate any suggestions on ebonizing wood to get 100% penatration. Ther are no wood working stores in my area that have a dye specifically for wood.

John, If you need black veneer save yourself the trouble and buy it. Black dyed costello is usually available from a good veneer supplier and is dyed black through and through.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I need to detail a design in veneer and want it to be solid black.
