Keith,For the size of maple parts you are using, PVA glue or Unibond 800 is fine. Choose what you prefer. The parts would have to be a lot bigger before I would get glue specific. You glue line visuals should be the same with both glues provide you use the white catalyst with the Unibond 800.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I am constructing cabinets with birdseye maple door panels. I had : originally intended to use quartersawn maple for the door frames, but : have not been able to obtain any other than very expensive sap wood : only boards (about four times the price of regular maple). I am : thinking of using regular maple for the frames, but veneering over : the solid wood with quartersawn maple veneer to obtain the look I : want. In veneering quartersawn material over flatsawn solid wood, : which would be my best choice for glue? I am using Unibond 800 for : the panels, but will this be too rigid given that the substrate is : not dimensionally stable, and would I be better off with a PVA? My : intention is to veneer only the front and rear faces of the boards, : leaving the sides (which already have the quartersawn appearance) as : is. Therefore, I am also interested in minimizing any glue line : appearing where the veneer and solid material meet.
