Subject : banding method sound?

I have started employing a banding method which I am a bit unsure of, and I wonder if others have done this. I press veneer to one face of solid hardwood, same or similar species, then I resaw and mill the bands downt to 1/16 thickness. The 16th inch bands are much easier to work with, than raw veneers, and can be bonded to the edge of the substrate using conventional methods. My only concern is whether the long term results will be satisfactory, and my edge banding will stay put. Has anyone else tried this? Thanks!

Richard,Sounds like a great idea. I cant see any problems with it. I have stiffened up edging veneer by apply it ninety degrees to a backer veneer but have never done it to solid.SincerelyDarryl Keil: I have started employing a banding method which I am a bit unsure of, : and I wonder if others have done this.
