Subject : raised panel burl door

I want to make a raised panel insert for a cabinet door, using walnut burl on the face. I would appreciate any comments on my planned approach: I would take a 1/2" thick piece of MDF and "frame" it on all four sides with solid walnut approximately 2" wide. I would then apply the burl over both the MDF and solid walnut. After the adhesive has set, I would run the panel edges through the raised panel router bit -- which should only cut the solid walnut, not the MDF -- and also leave a flush edge on the burl face where it overlapped the solid walnut. Is this feasible? Am I overlooking an easier way to accomplish the same thing? Thanks in advance for any advice.
