Subject : veneer on edge of mdf

Are there any issues related to glueing commercial veneer to the edgeof MDF? Since it's a lot of glue and particles the same as the flatsurfaces I don't expect there to be problems using Unibond as long asI've got a smooth surface. Is there any advantage to applying a solidwood bent lamination or bending ply surface to the MDF. I'm buildinga 36" diameter round table with a starburst pattern in satinwood andplan to build up the apron with stacked MDF.Thanks,Carl

Carl,You're correct that the main difference between the surface and the edge of MDF is the quality of sanding. You should have no trouble with glueing as long as your curves are fair and you apply even pressure to the entire glued surface, something your vacuum bag does exceptionally well. Just make sure that every part of your curved surface is square to the top and bottom surfaces. That's another way of saying that the veneer should be asked to bend in only one direction.Good luck,Tom
