Dan,When the platen is not in the bag for evacuation then you have to use some kind of a bleeder fabric like EvacuNet. Where the nipple is located does not really matter as long as the bleeder fabric is underneath it and covers the bulk of the area you are pressing. Putting the EvacuNet on the side with the nipple is enough, it doesnt have to wrap all around. When the form is outside the bag vacuum does not pull the bag to the form. You clamp the bag and your laminations to the form, the bag then squeezes all the laminations to each other once you are in position. This technique eliminates piles of clamps and uneven pressure. The outside technique used when the form is too large or unweildy to put in the bag.SincerelyDarryl: : I am getting ready to laminate 3 pcs. of 1/4 ply together with a 2 : ply face veneer. One will be used for a radius anigre toeboard and : the other for a soffit pc. My question is where is the best place to : locate the connection fitting for the vacuum hose when you are : working outside the form and how is the krinkle material or evacunet : used? Do you loop completely around the work and the caul? How does : the vacuum pull the wood to the form when you are outside of it? : Thank you
