I'm veneering some panels (3/4" x 4' x 8'domestic birch plywood) with an engineered wood veneer from Richelieu. Do I have to veneer the back side of the plywood?

I veneer both sides out of concern for effects of the veneer glue curing. To me it doesn't matter what type of veneer I'm applying. Is there a reason you are posting new threads twice?

Don, thanks for the help. That effect was starting to bother me but I wanted to know for sure.

When I hit SUBMIT or any other button on this forum the first page I get after that has this message on it '500 - Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.' So I've been going back and hitting SUBMIT again and then I have posted the thread twice. I figured out this morning if I just reload the page then it will go to the correct page. Not sure why it always has to show a page with the error message first and then reloads the correct on.

Another question. Is there a cheap veneer that you use for the back or unseen part of your work?

Can I use laminate cabinet liner? The only problem I wonder about then is that it will be put on with contact cement. Will that be a problem since I'm using Unibond for the face veneer?

Its always best to use the same glue on boths side for creating a balanced panel that will not warp. I would suggest a cheap paperbacked veneer, or get just the paper backing without the veneer on it. If you're using raw veneer I like backer grade mahogany for the back side.

As far as your problems with posting, I have no idea whats going on there. I will check in with my hosting tech people.

Thanks, Darryl.

Where can I find cheap paperbacked veneer or just the paper backing?

OK. I have another question. Is cabinet liner acceptable to use on the back side? Will UnibondOne glue work for cabinet liner? Trying to keep the costs down as much as possible.

Yes, you can glue cabinet liner with Unibond 800.

Ron

When ordering veneer, ask if the supplier carries an inexpensive backer product. As Darryl mentioned, I often use backer grade mahogany or poplar. My understanding of "backer grade" is that it is very wide, and relatively inexpensive.
