A customer was recently telling me about warming up his glue to 70 degrees before mixing it, and I thought it was worthwhile to share my response with him on this forum.
Although Unibond 800 DOES need to be 70 degrees or better to acheive a good bond, it does NOT need to be at this temperature for mixing. In fact, there are benefits to mixing at lower temps. Mainly, that you increase the pot life. The colder the glue temp when mixed the longer you have before you need to be under pressure.
The key is the material you are gluing should be up to temperature, or it should get there shortly after applying pressure. The glue itself will quickly assume the temperature of what it is applied to so making sure the glue it is at or above 70 degrees is unnecessary.
Just a little clarification on Unibond 800 and temperature requirements.
