For many years, formaldehyde has been widely discussed for its health hazards. When used in urea formaldehyde glue to attach veneer to a substrate, how does it compare to situations where it has been a documented problem, such as the Katrina trailers?
Is formaldehyde under veneer as likely to enter the atmosphere as its applications in the Katrina trailers? Is the concentration of formaldehyde per square foot similar? Et cetera . . .
I'm not looking to challenge either side in the debate, just understand the situation better. My inclination is that it would be trapped in the adhesive, especially under veneer, and that even a 7' x 3.5' tabletop would not be significant when compared to the total square foot exposure in the Katrina trailers, but I'm not sure.
Thanks.
