I'd really like to hear from all forum members who are experienced in what it takes to correctly apply a thin veneer over a drum shell. (or "full circle" ) I'm a drummer with limited woodworking experience, and I have a project I want to get right- the first time.
I have a 10 ply maple shell that is under 1/4" thick- 6" deep by 14" diameter- lightly sanded. I have a VERY nice piece of quilted maple veneer to wrap around the outside. It's very thin, and raw- no backing. I want to be sure I:
Use the proper glue; prep the shell (or veneer) correctly ; wrap with a method that will ensure a good bond smooth flat appearance; and achieve a really good seam. (I'll deal with the finsh later) If possible- I'd love it if someone could help me out with step-by-step directions by e-mail. Anybody?
Thanx
