Subject : Vacuum technics for plywood backed veneers

I live in India and we here get veneers which are backed with plywood of 3mm thickness. We still follow age old technics of nailing the veneer by placing strips of waste veneer over the actual veneer and then nailing it to the formwork after applying the glue and then removing the nails and the strips after a day. The problem with this is that the nails form marks on the veneer which can be seen even after you try and mask it with matching polish.
I want to start using vacuum pressing the veneer but I am not sure if this plywood backed(3mm)veneer will stick on with any bubbles being formed inside.
Can anyone offer me some insight on this. It will be highly appreciated.

Thanks.
