Subject : Frank, oil and wax finish on veneer

I am interested in finding out what a penetrating oil, such as Watco, combined with several coats of wax looks like on a veneered surface. I run a small furniture shop and am interested in getting involved in veneering, but want to keep the same finish (oil and wax) that I've been using on my solid wood pieces. Can you tell me more about how veneer looks with this finish. I'd be interested to know if veneer needs a more durable finish for protection. Thanks.
