Subject : Evacuating bulk air from the vac bag
Posted : 2001-01-21 11:44 AM
Post #30021

My evacuation pump is nothing more than three freezer pumps connected together with a vacuum switch. (These pumps are very powerful, but the CMF is very low). I connected it all to a 5 gal tank. Even with three pumps going, it took me 10 to 15 min to evacuate the bag. My solution was putting a quick disconnect coupler at the pump end of the hose. I designed a plug that fits my shop vac intake port. Drilling a hole I insterted a male quick disonnect nipple. I seal the bag, connect the hose to the shop vac and turn the shop vac on. Within 10-15 seconds most of the bulk air trapped inside the bag is gone. I then connect the bag to the 5 gal tank. The process takes less than 1 min and still allows me to ajust the material.Hope this helps.
