Actually. I didn't disconnect the hose from the bag, I just clamped the hose tighter to the connector piece. I took your advice though and plugged the hose completely and the pump still continues to run so I've eliminated the bag as the leak source.
The pump has been in storage for years and I am just now trying to get it back in action. It's probably 35 years old and has had only sporadic use.
I blew out the filter with an air hose to clear the sawdust.
