Hi Douglas,If you're interested in designing a small shop guillotine, I have an idea for the blade - an alternative for the 100" blade you're considering. My wife got a rotary cutter made by Olfa to cut fabric. It's simply a razor knife with a round blade that rolls around a central axis attached to a handle. We've been trying to use it with veneer without success, but I think that's because the blade isn't heavy enough and it tends to follow the grain of the veneer because it's not held in a jig next to a pressure bar. But maybe you could modify this kind of blade for a guillotine. Aren't modern paper cutters using round blades? Let me know what you come up with.
