I built some large panels a while ago (13' x 6') that were each done with 4 flitches per panel. I used a mirror cut technique in order to achieve tight seams, which worked wonderfully. After securing the flitches to a spoil board with tape in several places, I covered all but a small amount of the seam (approx 1/8" less than the diameter of the router bit) with 1/4" MDF, then used a straight edge to make the cut in one pass. Be sure to index your flitches to each other with pencil marks in order to ensure correct alignment when you tape the flitches prior to gluing.The beauty of this technique is that even if your straight edge is not perfectly straight, your seams will line up perfectly.: I have a variety of ways to joint veneer,including but not limited to : clamping between two boards and routing, hand veneer saw, jointing : etc.., but none are as fast or effecient as a guillotine.
